The “Game of Thrones” Stars: Both in and out of costume – part 2

The “Game of Thrones” Stars: Both in and out of costume – part 1

Davos Seaworth

Davos, also referred to as the Onion Knight, is a very devoted man, a problem solver, and a clever warrior. He was the most trusted advisor and Hand of the King to Stannis Baratheon. Actually a former smuggler, Davos lost all four of his fingertips as a result of these crimes, per Stannis’ orders.

Following his defeat at the Battle of Winterfell, Stannis took Jon’s side. He was the one who persuaded Melisandre to bring Jon back to life while he was at Castle Black in the middle of a mutiny.

Liam Cunningham

One of the most well-known actors from Game of Thrones is undoubtedly Irish performer Liam Cunningham. He became a cast member during the second season.

His performances in American and British films, including The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Centurion, Clash of the Titans, and The League of Gentlemen’s Apocalypse, won him accolades.

Cunningham co-won a BAFTA with Michael Fassbender for their short film, Pitch Black Heist, and has won two Irish Film & Television Awards.

Joffrey Baratheon

That sentence, “Everyone is mine to torment!” is one of Joffrey’s many show quotes, and it encapsulates everything you need to know about this vicious little boy.

King Joffrey was the ultimate villain who tortured every person in his path before Ramsay Bolton joined the show.

For many of our favorite characters as well as fans worldwide, his passing was a very joyous occasion.

Jack Gleeson

It is safe to say that if Jack Gleeson had not given such a fantastic performance, Joffrey would not have been hated by the public. When he was cast for Game of Thrones, he was just a boy, and no one could have predicted that he would perform so brilliantly. Sadly, Gleeson gave up acting after his character was killed off.

Though we still hope he changes his mind, young Gleeson stated, “I would like to be an academic, a philosophy lecturer if possible. I would do a Masters in Ancient Hebrew maybe, and a Ph.D. if I get in.”

Brienne of Tarth

Though Brienne of Tarth may not be the main character, she is unquestionably the strongest and deadliest—though, for a split second, she did show fear when she saw what Arya had become—and Game of Thrones is well known for having many strong, badass, and powerful female characters in lead roles.

As both of them died, she attempted to locate and shield both of Catelyn’s daughters. She is a formidable and fiercely devoted warrior who has pledged her sword to Renly Baratheon and then to Catelyn Stark.

Gwendoline Christie

Though this is hardly a criticism—Gwendoline Christie is incredibly elegant and beautiful—she appears to have a strong affinity for the fierce warrior despite the fact that she does not actually look like her character.

“I think what’s so beautiful and interesting about the character of Brienne of Tarth is yes, she’s strong; she’s a badass; she has vulnerability. But … all women can identify with her because she wants to be loved in the way that as human beings – male or female – we all want to be loved”, said Christie about her GOT character.

Olenna Tyrell

Lady Olenna seemed like a lovely elderly lady at first, we almost envied Margaery for having her as a grandmother. And then we’ve seen what she’s capable of doing for her family – lying, plotting and even killing. As Olenna says, she has no regrets because she did everything she could to protect her family.

But because Lady Olenna was one of the few people in Westeros who dared to oppose Cersei, she was adored by many. Sadly, she did not have a happy ending.

Diana Rigg

Dame Diana Rigg wears her title with pride, having contributed years of service to the theatre. Her most well-known performances were as Countess Teresa di Vicenzo in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and Emma Peel in the television series The Avengers.

She has dedicated the majority of her career to theater, which remains her greatest passion. “To all the younglings I come across in ‘Game of Thrones’ who suddenly find themselves well known, I say the theatre is your best friend – they will remember you.”

Sandor “The Hound” Clegane

Originally hired as Prince Joffrey Baratheon’s personal bodyguard, Sandor Clegane was also known as the Hound. We did not like him then, did we?

He participated in the Battle of the Blackwater in season two, but he declared, “F*** the King,” as he was leaving the fight. Of course, he is talking about Joffrey. It is only then that we acknowledge his true coolness.

After discovering young Arya, he makes an unsuccessful attempt to ransom her and is severely injured by Brienne of Tarth.

We believed for a while that we would never see him again, but he did return to fight in the next war.

Rory McCann

The real Rory McCann, a Scottish actor, is not at all like his character from Game of Thrones. He is the sweetest man you will ever meet, to start with, and he does not have any large scars or burns on his face. Look at a few of his interviews, please.

Perhaps what made this actor the perfect fit to play the Hound is that prior to this acting gig, he worked as a lumberjack. He also likes living a solitary life and spends a lot of time on his boat.

“I can identify every sound if I close my eyes because I live in a rural area of Scotland,” McCann remarked.

Lady Melisandre

In the religion of the Lord of Light, Melisandre, also known as the Red Woman, is a Red Priestess. She served as Stannis Baratheon’s closest advisor and has been assisting him for years in his quest for the Iron Throne. In order to help Stannis win the Battle of Winterfell, Melisandre used her abilities to assist him in killing his brother Renly. She also gave him advice and persuaded him to sacrifice his own daughter to the Lord of Light.

She thinks Jon Snow is “The Prince That Was Promised” now that Stannis is no longer alive. Oh, yes – she brought Jon back to life. Thus, it seems that she will still be playing a significant role in the last season.

Carice Van Houten

Carice Van Houten, an actress and singer, had a lifelong interest in the performing arts.

She received the Golden Calf Award for her performance in the television movie Suzy Q in 1999, the year she landed her first major role. She received the same honor two years later for her performance in Undercover Kitty.

Is there any aspect of Van Houten’s persona that she can identify with, despite her previous admission that she finds it amusing that people detest her?

The actress declared, “I am totally the opposite of what I play on Game of Thrones.”

Theon Greyjoy

You can not help but feel sorry for Theon Greyjoy after watching the last seven seasons, which are filled with so many violent and heartbreaking scenes. When he was a young child, the Stark family raised him, but he never felt like he truly belonged there and was always seeking acceptance and approval.

He began betraying everyone in season two to establish his true ironborn status. All he accomplished was to be despised by everyone in Westeros and subjected to torture by Ramsey Bolton.

Alfie Allen

Alfie Allen is completely different from Reek in real life in terms of appearance. Allen continues to be mistakenly identified as Lily Allen’s younger brother despite having established himself as a talented actor in one of the biggest shows on television. This is unfair because Allen is a gifted actor. Portraying such an authentic and complex character like Theon, who eventually transformed into Reek, is not an easy task to do. Allen did a great job and we can’t wait to see what the last season has in store for him.

Obara Sand

Prince Oberyn Martell’s eldest child, Obara Sand, is one of the Sand Snakes. Obara’s preferred weapon, like her father’s, is the spear, and she is fairly proficient with it. The eldest of the three sisters, Sand Snake, is a fierce and merciless fighter who appears to be the least sentimental.

She was extremely arrogant, which ultimately led to her death, just like Oberyn. She misjudged Euron Greyjoy’s attack on them, and Euron killed her with her own weapon.

Keisha Castle-Hughes

Actress Keisha Castle-Hughes, who was born in New Zealand, became well-known throughout the world for her role as Paikea “Pai” Apirana in the film Whale Rider. Castle-Hughes received a nomination for an Academy Award as Best Actress for this role. At the time, she was the youngest nominee in the Best Actress category, having only turned twelve.

The actress was cast as one of the Sand Snakes, which is not surprising, but it was not an easy feat to join the group in season 5. “It was a very difficult job from the start because it was an introduction of a lot of characters at once and an entire new world,” she said in an interview about the characters as a whole.

Osha & Rickon Stark

Along with Bran and Hodor, wildling Osha and youngest Stark son Rickon left Winterfell. Once they had crossed the Wall and were heading north, the four of them split up when Bran told Osha to take Rickon to Last Hearth.

Ramsay Bolton eventually apprehended the two and brought them back to Winterfell. Osha stabbed Ramsey in the neck in an attempt to seduce her and preserve her life. Afterwards, during the Battle of Bastards, he would torture Jon Snow by using Rickon and killing him.

Art Parkinson

Despite being only eighteen years old, Irish actor Art Parkinson has already collaborated with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, such as Dwayne Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, Matthew McConaughey, and Charlize Theron. He starred in films including Dark Touch, Dracula Untold, Freakdog, and San Andreas.

However, the experience of being a part of Game of Thrones is unique: “Working on Game of Thrones was an incredible surreal experience.” You are simply submerged in this fantastical world, and the production team—particularly the props and costume department—is mostly to blame for that, the young actor claimed.

Natalia Tena

Be not fooled by the wildling makeup – In real life, English musician and actress Natalia Tena is breathtakingly beautiful. Her iconic performances prior to Game of Thrones were as Hugh Grant’s co-star Ellie in About a Boy and as Nymphadora Tonks in the Harry Potter films.

However, everything changes when you get cast for the biggest show on the planet. “It has opened doors that would have been closed to me and brought such exciting projects and adventures to my doorstep, not to mention the incredible fans that have found our music through it,” Tena said in an interview.

Leaf

Leaf is a member of the non-human race known as the Children of the Forest, who are thought to have created the first White Walkers. Through his visions, Bran discovered that Leaf was the one who turned a man into the first White Walker by using an obsidian dagger. She clarified that children and men were at war, and in order to protect themselves, they created White Walkers.

Leaf helped Bran and his companions fight White Walkers when they attacked them in the cave, and she sacrificed herself to give Bran and Meera more time to escape.

Kae Alexander

Though it is difficult to see the stunning Kae Alexander through heavy makeup, you might recognize her from Bad Education as Jing Hua. She most likely had the most dramatic makeover in the entire show; the Children of the Forest were first fitted with prosthetics, and the gory details, like bruises or “branches,” were then painted on by the makeup artists.

“If I were to do a full body prosthetic, I would get picked up at midnight and then I’ll be on set by 10 a.m.,” Alexander explains. “I didn’t realize it was gonna result to nine and-a-half hours of makeup!”

Ramsay Bolton

We can not add anything new to what you already know about Ramsay Bolton, but we will say it anyhow: we all most likely despise this character. He is a psychopath who takes pleasure in torturing people. We were happy when Sansa eventually let him taste his own medicine because of this.

“The thing about Ramsay is that, compared to characters who are reclusive and harbor all of their darkness inside, he is strangely easier to play because he is actually happy. That increases the fatigue. Actor Iwan Rheon, who portrayed Ramsay, said, “You kind of let everything out with him.”

Iwan Rheon

The nicest actors in the show play the worst characters, which is a very interesting twist. Among them is undoubtedly the charming actor Iwan Rheon. In addition to being a fantastic actor, Rheon is a singer and musician. He became well-known and had a great musical career thanks to his role as Ramsay Bolton in Game of Thrones. His first album, Dinard, was released in April 2015.

In addition, the gifted Welsh actor starred in television series like Riviera, Inhumans, and Vicious.

Petyr Baelish

Littlefinger, aka Petyr Baelish, was an intriguing character because we have conflicting opinions about him. Without a doubt, he is a bad man, but there were moments when we had no choice but to support him. Despite being a low-born, Littlefinger was able to deceive and control nearly every character on the show.

“One of the most dangerous men in Westeros,” according to Varys. When Arya and Sansa killed him, they disproved his theory. Watching Littlefinger in his last moments on his knees was surprisingly painful, but we suppose it was something he deserved.

Aidan Gillen

Even before he played Littlefinger, Aidan Gillen was a well-known figure. He portrayed Tommy Carcetti in the HBO series The Wire, Stuart Alan Jones in Queer as Folk, John Boy in Love/Hate and CIA operative Bill Wilson in The Dark Knight Rises.

The Irish actor won three Irish Film & Television Awards and has been nominated for a British Academy Television Award, a British Independent Film Award, and a Tony Award.

With a sincere smile on his face, he looks a bit different in real life than his Game of Thrones character.

Nymeria Sand

One of Prince Oberyn Martell’s bastard daughters is Nymeria Sand, also known as Nym. Because Jessica Henwick, a young actress, is so skilled with her 8-foot-long bullwhip in combat, the role required a lot of physical exertion.

“Nymeria is fascinating; the three sisters have distinct personalities. We do not always agree, but our shared desire to exact revenge on our father unites us despite our disagreements on the best course of action,” Henwick said.

Jessica Henwick

Even though Jessica Henwick, an English actress of East Asian heritage, is still quite young, she has already landed a lot of different roles. She played Jessika Pava in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Colleen Wing in Iron Fist and appeared in The Defenders and the second season of Luke Cage.

The actress’s portrayal of Nymeria Sand in Game of Thrones provided numerous opportunities, and in 2017 Variety named her one of its Top Breakout Stars.

In the near future you can see her in movies Underwater and Godzilla vs. Kong.
